St. Louis Post-Dispatch: Ex-police officer sues St. Louis County, alleges racial discrimination

ST. LOUIS — A former police officer has sued St. Louis County, alleging racist behavior, retaliatory treatment and exclusionary hiring practices.

Shanette Hall worked at the county’s police department from October 2010 through April 18. She started as a 911 dispatcher and became a sworn officer in September 2014.

She also worked for years with the St. Louis County Chapter of the Ethical Society of Police, an association advocating for equality in the community and local police departments.

While Hall filed suit on Wednesday, she spoke out publicly over a year ago when the department transferred her one day after she appeared in a national media outlet’s video with other Black female officers talking about the culture of policing.
