ESOP member and retired Saint Louis Police Major, Shawn Dace, has been selected as Public Safety Director under newly elected Mayor Cara Spencer.
“He has ESOP’s support, and we look forward to working with him,” said ESOP President Sgt Donnell Walters.
Dace recently retired from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department after decades of dedicated service, most recently as deputy commander of the Bureau of Investigative Services, which includes homicide, sex crimes and arson detectives. He previously oversaw the South Patrol, which covered Mayor-elect Spencer’s district when she was an alderwoman. Dace’s son Devon also is a police officer.
As Public Safety Director, Dace will oversee the city’s largest department, which also includes such departments as the building division, City Justice Center and the Citizens’ Service Bureau.
