SLMPD Police Chief & E.S.O.P. Officers will distribute filled backpacks to youth Saturday, August 18 at Higher Heights Ministry Backpack Giveaway

WHAT:

Ethical Society of Police is partnering with Higher Heights Ministry to collect and distribute backpacks full of school supplies to students in need at the Higher Heights Ministry 12th annual Backpack Giveaway.

WHO:

  • Ethical Society of Police (E.S.O.P.) officers and St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) Chief John Hayden will be giving out backpacks filled with school supplies to Kindergarten through 12th graders.          
  • Kids can meet canine officers.
  • Polar Patrol will be giving out ice cream.
  • Parent must be present with children.

WHEN:

Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

O’Fallon Park Recreational Complex

DETAILS:

Last year more than 350 filled backpacks were distributed. Anyone interested in donating backpacks or supplies can drop them off at Higher Heights Ministry, Ethical Society of Police Office at 4901 Delmar Boulevard, or any SLMPD Police Department, preferably by Friday, August 17.

ABOUT  E.S.O.P

The Ethical Society of Police (E.S.O.P.) is an association of police officers, park rangers, and civilians that advocates for racial and gender equity in the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) and St. Louis County Police Department. The E.S.O.P. was founded in 1972 to address racial biases within law enforcement. The E.S.O.P. also works to improve community/police relations, develop policies and programs to reduce crime, elevate the status of minority civilians and police officers, encourage greater minority employment by law enforcement agencies, and increase professionalism in law enforcement.
