ESOP OFFICIAL STATEMENT
The Ethical Society of Police (ESOP) congratulates Colonel Juan Cox on his appointment as the new Chief of the St. Louis County Police Department. This significant moment presents an opportunity to strengthen trust, accountability, and collaboration between law enforcement and the communities we are sworn to serve.
Chief Cox assumes this role at a time when the relationship between police officers and the public requires intentional leadership, transparency, and a steadfast commitment to fairness. While serving as Deputy Chief, ESOP leadership engaged in consistent and transparent dialogue with Chief Cox to begin addressing concerns raised by community members and department personnel. We are encouraged by the opportunity to continue working alongside Chief Cox to advance a culture that values professionalism, integrity, and respect for every member of the department and every resident of St. Louis County.
ESOP remains committed to advocating for equitable treatment within law enforcement, promoting diversity in leadership, and ensuring officers have the support, training, and resources necessary to serve effectively. We believe that strong leadership is measured not only by operational success but also by the ability to listen, unite and inspire confidence both inside the department and throughout the community.
We wish Chief Cox wisdom, courage and success as he begins this important chapter of service to the people of St. Louis County.
